Empress Ustrina of the Vesper Kingdom had always ruled wisely, if a bit eccentrically. However, the small kingdom was always vulnerable to attacks by bandits and monstrous hordes. Although the towns had guards and militia, they could not risk leaving their settlements defenseless to strike down the aggressors. Ustrina was determined not to let her Kingdom be under constant fear. However, determination wasn't very effective. So, she found you.
It was a simple plan, anyways. Throw a few unemployed mercenaries at the problem, and maybe one of the survivors might bring news of their weaknesses. At the very worst, there would be less mercenaries (Ustrina wasn't very fond of vigilante justice).
But instead of simply dying, the mercenaries brought Ustrina the heads of the known leaders of the bandit camp, and some more to add on.
And so it was that these brave heroes became the champions of the land.
However, there was another, bigger problem in the back of Ustrina's mind. She had forgotten about it, dismissed it as a story told by her father to get her to not light the stable on fire, until it started coming true.
The purpose of this thread is to test an RPG system I am working on, to make sure combat is balanced.
Please use these rules to create your character. Start at level 1. You are the champions of the land, bound together by greed, honor, or simply the desire for a good fight.
Early middle ages setting, on a tropical island in the middle of nowhere. Occasional trade. Agrarian-focused culture, with some segments in forestry, mining, and manufacturing.

The culture is based on right of birth, which is granted by divine mandate (More on that later). The language used is latin, but for simplicity's sake anything not a name or important quote is in English.
Humans are natives of Vesper, arriving on it 2500 years ago. They believe their positions in life are set by the Gods, and they believe in a rough system of reincarnation, without enlightenment or ascension to a better life, but there is Hell, or 'Gehenna'. Their art and architecture is Roman, and their gods are unique, somewhat. They believe that the royal family is, essentially, possessed by different gods, depending on the year the person was born (It runs in cycles of 20). Outside of Vesper, they have not encountered any other humans.
Dwarves are immigrants, and started arriving 170 years ago when their home country, Domov Krbu, developed ships necessary for long sea travel (Vesper is about 150-250 miles away from their country, which lies to the west). Their hierarchy is similar to that of Austria, but is toned more towards Czechloslavakia, and their language is Czech. The culture is rather Spartan and conservative. There have not been any wars yet, but Domov Krbu is starting to urbanize before industry can keep up, and have been making plans for acquiring more land and resources. For now, however, they are fine with keeping up economic relations.
Elves have been traveling to Vesper for about 1050 years. They do not have any overarching government, and come from several islands within 25-100 miles of Vesper. They live in tribal communities, with the size of the tribe depending on the size of the island. Their technology is that of renaissance quality, although it is completely dependent on mages to keep it running, and as such, only rich businesses and the wealthy have any of it. Their language is Gujarati, roughly, although it will be spelled out phoenetically, for simplicity's sake. There are three or four dozen tribes that are in contact with Vesper. Currently, there are only skirmishes with two of the Elven islands (Due to their proximity, these are over fishing territory), Parṇaghaṭāḍō and Ālāpa, and a war with one, Uccaghara, which is currently undergoing truce negotiations to end it.
